MDSE 1650: This course is an in-depth analysis of quality issues relative to developing and producing ready-to-wear apparel. Concepts include apparel components, silhouettes, piece good selection, sizing, and costing. Includes application of a computer software package.
The capstone project for this course was to create a clothing line encompassing all the elements needed for production including knowledge of fabrics, trimmings, findings, and any associated costs for production.
My group designed a line with the brand name “Le’ Chic” (French for Chic), and featured clothing that could be worn by the professional young woman, aged 20-30, who had made her mark on the business world.
“The Le’ Chic woman can go from the hustle and bustle of the workplace to a night out on the town with minimal effort”
-The skills necessary to develop a profitable product
-The ability to meet the wants and needs of a targeted consumer group
-Accurate knowledge of the costs of appropriate fixings, trimmings, and fabrics
-Creating cohesion within dynamic levels of garments in an apparel line
I was a member of a 3 person team who did this project. My main responsibilities were to construct the PowerPoint and brainstorm ideas for potential garment choices.
