I was blessed with the opportunity to conduct undergraduate research in the fall of 2012 on ethnic fashion. My adviser, Dr. Jessica Strubel from the College of Merchandising, Hospitality and Tourism was gracious enough to let me gain real-world experience in the field of research. I assisted her in studies of Nigerian Dress and several Jewish garments. I performed literary searches and compiled numerous annotated bibliographies on the subject matter. My semester long research concluded with a museum exhibit showcasing our work on Nigerian dress, diasporic Identity, and translocalism. Titled Get You Gele On, the exhibit was a synopsis of contemporary styles and custom head wraps known as gele.
